1st Annual 4-H Western Heritage Project Conference

Over 150 participants, 50 shooters, and 6 states were represented at the 1st Annual Western Heritage Project Conference. Everyone learned more about the history of American Frontier West while attending workshops and competing in the National Championship.




A Ruger Vaquero Single Action revolver in the caliber of .45 Colt, has a 3 1/2 inch barrel. Wyatt Flippin from Missouri won the revolver through a drawing at this years event.

A live demonstration of a 1865 Mountain Howitzer was performed. This is the same model of cannon Used at the Big hole Battlefield during the Nez Perce War of 1877. Participants learned how to fire the canon and about correct safety procedures during the process.





There were many different workshops the participants could attend. Dutch oven cooking, gold panning, leather work, soap making, and maintaining guns were to name just a few . Many new skills were learned throughout the 3 days in Virginia City.
